Deposed Deji of Akure warned against impersonation
By, Odeyemi Samuel, Akure.
Akure Chiefs had sent a warning signal to the deposed Deji of Akure, Prince Adepoju Adesina saying he should not  in any guise parade himself as the Oba of the ancient town since there could be no “two Rulers in a town’”.
Addressing Journalists on behalf of the Chiefs and the people of Akure, Prof. Olu Agbi who gave the warning said the former Kabiyesi remained deposed going by his unruly behaviour that almost brought Akure land to disrepute while he was on the throne.
The former Deji was deposed on June 3, 2010 by Akure Chiefs but following the intervention of the state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, reinstated, but no sooner that he was pardoned that he went for the jugular of those Chiefs he perceived as his enemies.
He was finally banished to Owo and banned from entering Akure for a period of six months while another Deji, the late Oba Adebiyi Adesida was installed.
After his demise, another Deji, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi– Odundun II was installed. This installation has not gone down well with Adepoju as he went to court to challenge the legality of such installation saying, it is illegal to have taken such action when a former  Deji is still alive.
Prince Adepoju later moved round Akure streets shortly after he left the court on November 10, 2015 where he had gone to contest his dethronement.
According to Prof. Agbi, Akure Chiefs decided to send the warning signal to Adepoju owing to the implications which such act has on the traditional system of Akure.
He therefore warned that the people of Akure land will resist any further  attempt to truncate the peaceful coexistence among the people of Akure having disowned Adepoju as their paramount ruler.
His words, “what Adepoju did on that day November 10, 2015 is tantamount to saying that Akure has two Kings! Never! Never!! and Never!!! Adepoju Adesina has been deposed and it will remain, indeed Akure deserves the current peace for its development and progress”.
