The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to health workers’ rights and welfare.
Dr. Balarabe who made this known during the 11th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), emphasized the critical role of health workers amid economic challenges at the weekend.
Speaking at the venue, she acknowledged the theme of the conference, “The Nigerian Health System in the Era of Economic Downturn: Issues, Challenges, and Way Forward,” as timely, highlighted the economic difficulties that have affected healthcare delivery.
She however, urged health workers to remain resilient and innovative in their service.
The Deputy Governor commended the outgoing state chairman, Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleiman, for his exceptional leadership and efforts in promoting industrial harmony between the union and the state government under the administration of Senator Uba Sani.
She praised Comrade Suleiman for fostering a positive working environment through peaceful negotiations, which have benefited both union members and the broader health system.
Dr. Balarabe assured delegates of the state government’s commitment to workers’ rights and welfare, reiterating the importance of collaboration to overcome the challenges facing the healthcare system in Kaduna State.
Earlier in his remarks, Comrade Ayuba Magaji, who is ending his two terms as chairman of the union, commended Governor Uba Sani for his friendly gestures and prioritising the welfare of Kaduna State workers.
