Demand For Details Of Salaries, Allowances Of Buhari, Ministers, Governors, Shehu Sani Tells Nigerians

Chairman Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts and Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Shehu Sani on Saturday tasked Nigerians to demand from the Presidency and the Judiciary their actual salaries and allowances.

Senator Sani who gave the charge in Ibadan while featuring on the Fresh FM  radio program ” Southwest  Political Circuit” monitored by the New Nigerian maintained that his recent revelation of the allowances and salaries of Senators was never meant to antagonize Senators but to end the 19 years of secrecy and culture of Silence in the National Assembly.

“Now that you have known how much we earn, it is important for Nigerians to ask the President what is the running cost of the Villa. The Ministers, Special Advisers, GMDs should also be ask how much they earn. Now that you have known how much we Senators earn, leave us alone and ask other political office holders how much they too earn. I revealed how much we earn to remove secrecy.” he said.

According to the Senator representing Kaduna Central District, though  had began to loose more friends following his revelation, he was ready to pay the price of setting the record straight and ensure that the the Democracy he fought to have does not get derailed.

Emphasizing that himself like other Senator would still be collecting the amount ” until there is a change in it” stressed  that Nigerians must demand from the president, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Governors, state legislators, chairmen of council and others of their actual salaries and call for review.”

Commenting on the reaction of members of the Senate to his recent disclosure of the Senators salaries and allowances, Senator Sani  said as at present, the Senate is yet to threaten him on the issue.

“The Senate has never threatened me, and has never treated me badly. I am not aware of any penalty against me for now.All what they did was to call me and confirm.  For now, I appreciate the response of the Senate for now.”
