President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),Dr Nasir Fagge Isa has said only economic sanctions on Morocco and trade boycott of Nigerian companies on dealing in importation or establishing any company in Morocco can force Morocco to free Western Saharawi people.
Dr Fagge Isa who dropped this hint in Ibadan noted that ASUU is of the belief that the independence of Africa is incomplete until this colony is free from the oppression, exploitation and criminal plundering of its endowed resources by Morocco.
“The Nigerian movement must, together with all forces of National Liberation organise boycott against companies and multinationals that do business with Morocco in Western Sahara; Reject political parties and companies that do business involving the Saharawi resources with Morocco. ASUU’s position is that no effort must be spared to set Western Sahara free from the Morrocan captivity. We therefore call on all and sundry to give the Nigerian Movement for the Liberation of Western Sahara all the support it requires in achieving it’s core objectives,”he said.
The ASUU President hinted that already, the union has awarded postgraduate scholarship to three Western Sahara Republic citizens in two Nigerian Universities as part ‎of ASUU’s quest at strengthening their capacities for decolonization.
Dr Fagge Isa maintained that this will go a long way to ensure the decolonization of the people of Western Saharawi Republic from Morrocco’s occupation of their land and exploitation of their resources.
He added that ASUU is also involved in the development of curriculum and fund mobilization for the take-off of a Law Faulty at the University of Teferiti to include vocational education at the refugee camps near Tindouf.
“As a Union of Intellectuals, education is a potent tool for the true emancipation of not only the people of Western Saharan, but all Africans as a whole,” he said.
Speaking further, Dr Fagge Isa stressed that the inauguration of the Nigerian Movement for the Liberation of Western Sahara by ASUU and NLC is a major addition to the growing efforts to rally support for the freedom of the people of Western Sahara under the colonial tutelage of Morocco, another African Country.
