As the countdown to ending of the continuous voters registration draws nearer, the Chikun Local Government Area Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is witnessing. unprecedented turn out of eligible voters.
When our correspondent visited the Chikun INEC office on Wednesday, several eligible voters were seen hustling to gain entrance to get registered.
In an interview with the Electoral Officer Chikun LGA, Sa’ad Abdulrahman said they are overwhelmed by the number of turn out.
He blamed the rush on the deadline, while urging them to conduct themselves orderly, assuring that the staff are dedicated and committed to ensuring all are duly registered before the deadline on August 17.
Sa’ad appealed to those that have registered and are yet to collect their PVCs to do so, while lamenting that over 10’000 PVCs remain unclaimed.
“Anyone who registered in Chikun LGA should come and collect their PVCs. We have over 10,000 unclaimed PVCs. Some registered as far back as in 2014.
” Those who registered in 2017 should also come around, their cards are ready,” he said.
