Customs Arrests Fake ASP With 25 Bags Of Smuggled Rice, Others

    Nigeria Customs Service Katsina Area Command has arrested a suspected fake Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP Sirajo Jelani Abdulkadir with 25  bags of foreign rice, one carton of spaghetti and macaroni each.
The acting Comptroller of the command, DC Dalha Wada Chedi, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the achievements recorded by the command between February 1 to  March 30,  2022.
According to him, the suspect was arrested along the Katsina-Kano highway conveying the contraband items in a Toyota Sienna space wagon.
Mr. Chedi added that the suspect was apprehended with four different ID Cards ranging from police identification card, Citizen for Peace and First Aid Mission of Nigeria, Nigeria Association of Agricultural Produce Dealers NAAPD and Federal Representative of Nigeria Task force, Kaduna State among others.
The acting Comptroller of Customs added that the vehicle has inscriptions of Federal Joint Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement against Multiple Taxes and Levies along Nigerian highway, Kaduna State Command and many other stickers suspected to be used to deceive security operatives.
Other suspected exhibits found in possession of the suspect include Nigeria Police ballistic jacket, a handcuff, an Assistant Superintendent of Police rank badge and a can suspected to be tear gas.
He further explained that the suspected fake ASP has been handed over to the state command of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
In another development, DC Dalha Wada Chedi announced the seizure of four used vehicles, 432 bags of foreign rice, 309 cartons of spaghetti, 68 jerrycans of vegetable oil, 400 bags of Tiger nuts and 55 cartons of macaroni, among other contraband with a total duty paid value of over fourty two point seven million naira.
The briefing also witnessed the handing over of three hundred and fifty three cartons of animal drugs seized by the command, to the officials of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control ( NAFDAC ).
