Crescent University appoints Aalafin as Chancellor …Honours Abdusalami with honourary doctorate

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi on Saturday bagged the award of honorary doctorate degree in Public Administration and was decorated as Chancellor of the Crescent University, Abeokuta Ogun State.
 
The event took place, during the 2015/2016 convocation ceremony, held inside the Bola Ajibola auditorium Abeokuta Ogun State.
 
The 8th convocation ceremony which had 435 graduating with First degrees and eight with Master degrees, also saw former Head of State General Abdusalami Abubakar becoming a Doctor of Science (Dsc Honoris Causa) in public administration of the university.
Alaafin, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the management of the university for the honour done him.
 
The monarch who recalled how he, as the former Pro-Chancellor of the Uthman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, helped to build the institution from the scratch, however, promised to try everything at his disposal to position Crescent university to an enviable height.
 
He commended the proprietor of the school, Prince Bola Ajibola (SAN) for his contribution to the development of education in Nigeria by investing his assets in the establishment of the university.
 
In his remark, General Abubakar (rtd.) described the conferment of the honorary award on him as the one he and his family will cherish forever.
 
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, charged the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school and make use of their training to contribute to the growth and development of the society.
He also charged them to face the future with confidence adding “you should not only be job seekers but also entrepreneurs and inevitable job givers”.
 
The convocation event which produced 28 First Class graduands, saw Miss Rasheedat Olowookere Modupeola of Accounting Department emerging as the best graduating student of the year, while Arogundade Abdul-Wahab of department of Chemical Sciences and Miss Muktar Fatimatu Binta of department of Mass Communication, emerged as the best behaved male graduating student and best behaved female graduating student respectively.
