The General Superintendent, Christ Redemption Bible Church Worldwide (CRBC), Prophet John Oluwadare, has charged the Lagos State Government to be up and doing in the areas of agriculture, food supply chain and food security, to prevent its residents from starvation.
This was disclosed to New Nigerian in an exclusive interview on the state of the nation.
Oluwadare earlier commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the various initiatives aimed at impacting positively the lives of the residents and to make Lagos a business hub and an economy destination for all and sundry.
Noting the need for the state to channel part of its resources on agricultural revolution by investing on farm equipment, empowering farmers through provision of seedlings, encouraging farmers to access low interest loans and providing adequate storage facilities, “hence Lagos would not only be an economic hub, but a food basket state, especially in the South West, thereby, protecting the health of its residents.
“And by extension, the government also needs to put the multi-million Naira investment of Imota Rice Mill into an effective and a functional use, to enhance rice production, thus open the market and reduce the price of food, especially rice, which is a staple food for Nigerians”
He therefore, appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu to save the plant from being idle, but put it to effective use by ensuring that rice paddy to the mill is sufficient in supply.
Prophet John Oluwadare, further enjoined the governor to take a cue from the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, in his agricultural transformational drive, which aims at liberating the nation from hunger and starvation, improve the value of the currency, that is currently experiencing fluctuation due to over-dependence on importation, particularly food items such as rice.
Oluwadare further assured Governor Sanwo-Olu, that the Church of God will continually pray for his success, noting that he is expected to end well at the end of his tenure come 2027.
