The recent unfolding events at the Ondo State House of Assembly have been described as a drama  of sorts with different scenes and personalities as directors and characters in the drama package.
Just as the former Speaker of the House, Jumoke Akindele  alongside her deputy have been impeached by majority members of the House, 20 out of the 26 Members that form the House.
The impeachment of the Speaker and her deputy was conducted at the hallowed chamber of the House in the presence of the Clerk of the House Bode Adeyelu, while the mace which is the official symbol of the House was present  during the session of the impeachment.
According to sources from the House,  the Speaker and her deputy were removed based on allegations of fraud, financial inappropriateness and management that affects the working of the House
However, in a swift reaction, Hon. Olusiji Akindiose,  chairman House Committee on Information said the actions by fellow members were condemned  and not in good faith and illegal, lies and unfounded, adding that the members  still have confidence in the leadership of Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele.
However, reliable information revealed  that in a couple of weeks  ago, the Speaker,  clerk,  Accounantt  and some principal officers of the House were quizzed in Lagos  by security agencies  for allegation of fraud and fund misappropriation,  with the matter still under investigation.
Meanwhile,  Hon.  Malaki  Coker from Ilaje  Constituency  has been picked as the Acting Speaker, while Arowele  Ayo  from Owo  has been  picked as the Deputy Speaker, based on the decisison of majority members present at the sitting of impeachment on Friday, as allegations of funds movement with “question marks” rock the House .
This will be the second time the leadership of Jumoke Akindele  leadership in the House will face similar allegations and removal saga from members.
