COVID-19: Federal Ministry Of Health Sensitizes Troops On Safety Protocols Ahead Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary

In line with the Federal Government’s COVID 19 Prevention and Safety Protocol, the Department of Emergency Services, Federal Ministry of Health has sensitize members of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies currently participating in the Armed Forces Independence day parade preparatory to the Nigeria 61st Independence anniversary celebration coming up on 1st October 2021.

The Sensitization programme held at the Eagle Square today 29 September 2021, according to the team leader, Prof Sydney Ibeanusi became necessary to ensure the safety of troops participating in the parade ahead of the 61st Independence anniversary celebration scheduled to hold at the Eagle Square Abuja in the coming days.

While addresing the troops, Professor Ibeanusi stated that the Federal Ministry of Health as part of its proactive control and prevention measures deemed it necessary and imperative to continue to sensitize troops and all Nigerians on the need to stay safe by ensuring that all safety and prevention protocols relating to Covid 19 and general health are strickly adhered to, especially as the nation prepares for the anniversary celebrations which would have in attendance members of the international communities.

He noted that as very integral part of the society, there is a need for the troops to remain healthy, safe and strong to deliver on their mandate, especially as the world is contending with the scourge of many health related challenges to which COVID 19 is part of. He added that the nation looks forward to having a healthy troops which would further transform to having a healthy community and a society at large.

High point of the event was lecture against illicit use of unprescribed and consumption of hard drugs and other substances, general health and disease prevention protocol such as the use of hand sanitizers, facemask as well as washing of hands and the need to stay healthy to curb the spread of general diseases.

Speaking onbehalf of the Commander, Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Muhammed Takuti Usman, the Brigade Deputy Chief of Staff, Major B Magaji commended the effort of the team for sensitizing the troops and assured them that all the safety and prevention protocols would be strickly adhered to by the participants.

He also used the opportunity to admonish all at the sensitization lecture to put into practices lessons learnt so as to remain healthy and strong.

As some Staff Officers of the Brigade were also in attendance at the sensitization programe.
