Court remands 14 youths in Prison Custody for attempted murder

Fourteen youths from Unguwar Kaura, Zaria Local Government have been remanded in prison custody by the Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Chediya G.R.A for attempting to commit homicide, until 22nd November, 2016 for further mentioning.
Presenting the suspects to the court, the Prosecuting Officer, Sargent Abubakar Ibrahim told the court that Abdullahi Khalifa, Abdullahi Dandila, Ahmed Dankuli, Bashir Raga and 10 others have conspired and attacked one Abdulrahman Tanimu of No. 127 Anguwar Kaura, Zaria city with dangerous weapons on the 6th July, 2016 at about 8:00 p.m. in his residence leaving him with several injuries as a result of the cut he sustained.
Sgt. Abubakar further stated that they were arrested and found in their possession are swords, Cudgels, sticks among other dangerous weapons.
The police after investigation have charged the suspects for trespass, impersonation, attempt to commit homicide and illegal possession of dangerous weapons, under section 366, 277, 319(a) of CPC.
Chief Magistrate Auwal Musa said no Magistrate Court has the right to grant bail to such case which he faulted the earlier magistrate court sitting at Fada Zaria city for granting the bail as well for even hearing the case.
In view of this, Chief Magistrate Auwal referred the case to ministry of justice for advice on what to do next as well advise their lawyer to follow the due process of assessing their bail if it warrant at the High Court.
He ordered for the remand of the suspect in the prison custody till 22nd November, 2016 for further mentioning.
