Court Orders Housewife Arrested Over Alleged Grievous Hurt To Step Sons In Zaria

 The Magistrate Court sitting at Kings Road Sabon-Gari Zaria presided by Mr.Toro Luka has ordered the arrest of Basira Auwal, a housewife who allegedly caused grievous bodily harm to her step sons in Zaria.
At the resumed hearing of the case, the prosecutor, Insp. Napko Renbuk told the court that the case was slated for hearing but due to the absence of the defendant, the case cannot continue.
The prosecutor, therefore, applied for the arrest of the defendant pursuant to section 127 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2017.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. Toro Luka granted the application and issued a bench warrant against the defendant and also revoked the bail earlier granted.
According to the FIR on February 7, the nominal complainant, Shamsiyya Mohammed of Bomo Village, Sabon-Gari Zaria lodged a criminal complaint against the defendant at Samaru Divisional Police Headquarters.
She told the police that the incident occured on January 8 after an argument between Shamsiyya Mohammed and the defendant. 
The nominal complainant added that the defendant sneaked into her children’s room without provocation and used à sharp razor blade and afflicted grievous bodily injuries on their faces.
The children are Jafar Idris (M) 12 and Fahad Idris (M) nine years and the children were rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital where they received medical attention and presently recuperating.
On February 9, Basira Auwal was arraigned before the court over alleged offence which was contrary to sections 223, 228 and 240 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law and Section 2 of Violence Against Person Prohibition Act 2015. 
The matter was adjourned to February 22 for hearing.
