Court Convicts Alhaji Bright On 2-count Charge

The Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Chediya GRA Zaria has sentenced Alhaji Abubakar Iliyasu (Alhaji Bright) to two years imprisonment or to pay the fine of N20,000 for theft as well as sentenced him again on deformation of character to one year imprisonment or a fine of N10,000 respectively.
Delivering the judgment the Chief Magistrate Auwal Musa said, all the conviction should be run concurrently if the convict fails to pay the fines.
He said, after studying the case carefully for a very long time, all the allegations made against the Defendant as well the testimony of the four PW who appeared before the court have not been countered or disbanded in the Defendant’s side which proved the allegations against Alhaji Bright were correct.
The court considered the plea by the defence counsel Barrister G.M Sadiq for leniency of the convict this is his first criminal case against and the court considered the plea.
After the court sitting, the lawyer to the convict, Alhaji Bright, Barrister G.M Sadiq said the court has done the right thing and he appreciated the court for considering his plea.
In a related development, the Chief Magistrate Court has adjourned the case between C.O.P Vs Yunusa Ali, Shuaibu Shugaban Samari, Alhaji Abubakar Iliyasu (Alh. Bright) to March 23rd 2018 for the continuation of definite defence.
