Councilor, Two Others Feared Killed In APC, PDP  Clash In Ibadan


*Others injured, vehicles, motorcycles destroyed

With few hours to the governorship election, three persons are  feared dead yesterday, following a bloody clash between members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Ile-Tuntun area of Ibadan South East Local Government of Oyo State.

New Nigerian gathered that the bloody clash also left no fewer than 10 people sustaining varying degrees of injuries, while motorcycles, and vehicles were damaged by suspected political thugs

It was learnt that the clash erupted when members of the APC were holding meeting at the party office at Iyana Court, Ile-tuntun, Ibadan.

According to an eye witness, midway to the meeting, vehicles suspected to be conveying PDP members said to be passing by allegedly provoked members of the APC at the meeting by allegedly throwing objects at them.

Our Correspondent gathered that this resulted into shootings as  suspected political thugs took over the situation amidst sporadic shootings and throwing of dangerous weapons 

In the clash, a Councilor representing Ward 10, Ibadan South East Local Government Area, Sulaiman Ariyibi was shot dead with two others feared killed.

It was learnt that  the dead bodies have been evacuated to a morgue, and those injured  currently receiving medical attention 

Oyo State PDP Publicity Secretary, Engr. Akeem Olatunji in his account, said that the campaign train of the PDP was attacked by sponsored thugs of one of the leading opposition parties in the state 

According to Engr Olatunji,  suspected thugs of one of the leading opposition parties attacked the PDP campaign train at Ile Tuntun and killed Ariyibi, a councilor representing ward 10, Ibadan South East local government, adding  scores of our supporters including Hon Agboworin escaped death by whiskers.

Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adewale Osifeso however, said ” the case is under investigation as we speak , further update as regards the clash will be communicated accordingly”.
