Council Polls: Kaduna Electoral Commission Seeks Security Cooperation

In a bid to achieve credible and violence-free local council elections, the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM), has sought the cooperation of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in the state.

Chairperson of the Commission, Dr Saratu Binta Audu sought this cooperation when she led other members of the commission on a familiarization visit to the State Commandant of the Corps, adding that the request could not be ignored considering the important security role of the NSCDC.
Audu explained that Local Government elections in the state are around the corner, hence, the possibility of consolidating on the existing relationship with the NSCDC.
The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Corps, requesting for a sustainable collaboration that would yield positive result in securing human and electoral materials either on transit or those already stationed at Local Government offices.
Responding, the State Commandant, Alhaji Modu Bunu thanked KAD-SIECOM delegation for the visit and pledged to grant the commission’s request.
Bunu recalled the past efforts of NSCDC regarding elections and promised to consolidate on it with the view to improving on it for better and enhanced outcome.
Highlight of the visit was presentation of sensitization materials to the Commandant on the need for peaceful, credible and non-violent election.
