Council Polls: FCT Minister, Security Chiefs caution electorates

As preparations for Area Councils polls in Abuja tomorrow nears conclusion, all residents have been called upon to come out to vote candidates of their choice, maintain peace and order before, during and after the elections.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Alhaji Musa Mohammed Bello made this call in Abuja, Thursday, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders on the Area Councils polls.
The Minister who emphasized the need for everyone to follow the path of peace, also announced that all security agencies in the FCT have been fully mobilized and directed to carry out their constitutional duties which includes dealing decisively with all trouble makers in the FCT during elections.
Considering the fact that electing leaders for the third tier of government takes place ones in three years, the Minister urged all residents to ensure they vote the candidates of their choice that would bring greater achievements into the capital territory .
The Minister congratulated all the candidates and urged them to remain positive notwithstanding the outcome of the Saturday elections.
Speaking earlier, Minister of Defence, Brig. Gen. Mansur Dan Ali urged the Aspirants to follow the code of ethics guiding the elections during the polls and pledged the Support of the Military towards success of the elections.
Also speaking, the Senator representing the FCT, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda said “We are all brothers and sisters in the FCT, one indivisible family without an option for peace”.
He assured that his people were loyal to the Government and would not do anything that would interfere with the current peaceful atmosphere in Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary in a welcome address earlier said the forum was designed to foster peace and understanding amongst stakeholders who included politicians, Royal Fathers, women and youth residing in the FCT.
Also present at the town hall stakeholders meeting were Royal fathers, religious leaders, market women and Men, political parties representatives of all the security agencies who warned that all forms of lawlessness will be met with the full weight of the law.
