Upgrading of FCE Zaria to University: El-Rufa’i disagrees with FG, commissions Multi-Purpose Hall named after him

Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State has disagreed with the Federal Government on the upgrad of ing of Federal College of Education (FCE), Zaria to a university asserting that the institution was inherited from Northern Regional Government, just as he commissioned 1,500 capacity multi-purpose lecture hall named after him by the management of Federal College of Education (FCE), Zaria.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i said, FCE Zaria will continue to progress and produce quality teachers and urged the management to maintain the standard the college have.
He reiterated the resolve of his administration to improve education in the state by continues training and retraining of teachers. He applauded the Provost for the change he brough to the college standard with infrastructure and manpower since his assumption of duty in the college.
The Governor hoped that Federal Government will choose the next Provost from within the College.
On the issue of turning the college to a University of Education, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i said the Federal Government will build its own University since all the Federal tertiary institutions in the state were inherited from the old northern regional government of Nigeria.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Provost of the college Dr. Muktar Ibrahim Maccido called for more robust relationship between the College and the Kaduna state Government in terms of consultancy services and training of teachers.
He said the commissioning of this project is a great honour which marks his completion of Stewardship as the Provost of the College.
