Commercial Motorcyclists popularly known as Okada or Achaba in Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Governments of Kaduna State Wednesday staged a peaceful rally to protest their ban by the state government which took effect from Monday 5th September 2016.
The operators in their hundreds all barring leafs on their motorcycle took the rally through almost all the major roads in the area.
The rally which started Tuesday evening continued on Wednesday morning with slogans “Ba ma so”, “Bamu yarda ba” meaning we don’t want and we don’t agree.
In order to maintain law and order, the Men of the Nigerian Police, FRSC, NSCDC and KATSELEA jointly took over the roads by dispersing the protesting okada riders as well made some arrest.
At the time of filing this report, the number of those arrested was yet to be identified.
