Climate Change Is Affecting Livelihood – University Don

A lecturer with the Department of Local Government and Development Studies, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Dr. Abdulhamidu Abdullahi has said that climate change is affecting our livelihood.

He stated this at a Talk Shop Series with the theme, “Youths Restiveness, Climate Change and Gender Equality” held at the department lecture hall at Kongo Campus.

Dr. Abdulhamidu who is the convener of the programme, said community should respect and accept all the forecast and research on the current globalization changes in agriculture and our livelihood .

He added that, “when people accept the fact that climate change is real as we are witnessing the rainfall and flooding in our environment.”

Several speakers identified the effects of climate change as felling down trees without planting another is coursing erosion and afforestation in the land.

Also, the effects of gender inequality is tagged as the bedrock of corruption in the country.

The speakers identified that unemployment and lack of provision of social amenities by the government, is another factor of youth restiveness.

They stressed that to address restiveness in the society, there is the need to have cancelling centers that will be used to engaged youths and mentor them to be better in the society.

Another speaker challenged the students of Department of Local Government and Development Studies to be ready to checkmate their local government areas on how they are spending public funds at their disposal.

Students of 300 Level and 400 Level staged a drama display on how to prevent erosion and environmental degradation course by the climate change.
