The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has condemned in the strongest term the recent inflammatory statement credited to by Femi Fani Kayode against President Muhammad Buhari.
CITAD, while condemning the statement, also urged the likes of Femi Kayode and all the citizens to always be sensitive and responsible in all what they say in public and ensure that they did not make any statement that will provoke any group of people in the country.
The Centre similarly urged the relevant security agencies in the country to be tracking any statement it considered inflammatory and take the necessary action in accordance with the law of the land.
It would be recalled that Femi Fani Kayode in a recent article in one of the national dailies said that President Muhammadu Buhari might either die or overthrown, as no core northern Muslim leader has ever ended well in Aso Rock.
Kayade stated, “The truth is that every single CORE northern Muslim leader that has ever ruled this country has either died on the throne or been removed from power in a military coup. Not one of them ended well. Whether the second coming of Buhari will end any differently remains to be seen”.
He added, “One thing that is clear to me though is that the whole thing is spiritual. It is being orchestrated and affected by the finger of God and not by any man. It is God’s way of saying that they were never meant to rule and be there in the first place and that He has rejected them. It is the work of the Ancient of Days and the Lord God of Hosts”.
A statement signed by CITAD’s Team Leader, Countering, Sagiru Ado Abubakar, noted that Kayode’s vituperations are aimed not at attacking the President alone but also indirectly or even directly intended to provoke Northerners and instigate them against the people of the other regions of the country. .
“It is clear and accepted to all that life and death are all in the hands of the Creator but should anything negative happened to the President, many citizens may attribute it to his statement and possibly inflame violence in the country”, CITAD said.
It explained that the statement cannot be given the attention it received if not for the position of the speaker in the country as an elder statesman, a politician and an apparent opponent of the president coming from a region different from that of the president, “these are key factors that make the statement be regarded as hate speech and therefore inflammatory”.
Malam Sagiru Abubakar expressed dismay that people make inflammatory statement to disrupt our peaceful coexistence in their effort to achieve missions that they know better.
He appealed to the public not to give any attention to the likes of Kayode so that they cannot use people in achieving their selfish interest to the detriment of the peaceful coexistence of the country.
