Wife of former Vice President, Hajiya Titi Amina Atiku Abubakar, has called on Nigerians to show love to every single child, irrespective of their tribe, tongue or creed.
Hajiya Titi gave the advice while speaking to journalists on Friday at the Children’s Day party for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Kunchigoro IDP Camp in Abuja.
Represented by Mrs Veronica Umaru, coordinator of the world acclaimed Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF), she emphasised the great importance of education for all children, an area where her husband has focused the majority of his philanthropy.
“Education for all children is non-negotiable and that is the best legacy any family, community or government can give to the children,” she said.
Hajia Titi Abubakar urged families, communities and governments to give priority to the education of all children, and encouraged well endowed individuals in the society to consider making education philanthropy a priority.
“The elite should channel some of their endowments to the education of children, particularly the less privileged/vulnerable children,” she said, describing children as the leaders of tomorrow, who need to be nurtured with the best values of honour, integrity and service inculcated into them.
“We must bring up our children in the fear and knowledge of God,” she said, adding that when children are brought up in love, then the future and development of our various families, communities and country is assured.
