CDS Urges Support For FG In The Fight Against Insecurity

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin has urged  Nigerians to effectively support Federal Government  efforts in the fight agaist  insecurity in the country.
 
He stated this in Zaria at the commissioning of some projects at the Nigeria Military School (NMS), Zaria.
 
General Olonishakin said the call became imperative in view of the importance of information to national security.
 
“All we need to do is to step-up efforts and consolidate on our success in all the areas we are having our operations.
 
“Not only in the North-East but even in the Niger-Delta and also on issues of cattle rustling, kidnapping and all vices. We are stepping-up our games and ensure that peace returns to all these location”.
 
The CDS enjoined all Nigerians to give all the necessary support and vital information that would help them to effectively discharge their duties.
Commenting on the success recorded by the NMS, the CDS appreciated, as well the contributions made by some well meaning Nigerians for refurbishing the school to restore its structural lost glory.
 
He, however, said the school was doing very well in terms of academics, adding that the school had already attained the level expected.
 
“The school examination result is highly commendable, we only encourage them to sustain and improve on it.”
 
“I am glad that this premier institution has not only continued to make its relevance felt in the Armed Forces, but also in the value addition to the development of Nigeria.
 
“I am also happy that the dreams and ideals of the founding fathers have continued to strive as the school move from strength to strength.
 
According to him “even after 52 years, Nigerian society still appreciates the role NMS is playing in inculcating knowledge, discipline and patriotism to the boys as junior leaders,”.
 
Gen. Olonishakin said the vision of the school was to produce disciplined, knowledgeable and patriotic young Nigerians ready to serve in the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
 
In his remarks the NMS Commandant, Brig Gen Mohammed Mahmud-Bunza said the boys have been doing very well academically and promised to ginger them up to do better in the subsequent examinations.
 
Brig. Gen Bunza identified security as a responsibility of all and the school had been training the boys to know what was expected of them and to mould them into adult to become good citizens.
 
“This is what distinguished NMS from other secondary schools across the country, because of national value, as boys of military school, in addition to the discipline.”
Some of the projects commissioned includes renovated school library, two Soldiers Quarters, Chalk Industry, Kitchen among others.
