Buhari pays glowing tribute to Benin Monarch, confers with Oba Ewuare II

As parts of his 2-day working visit to Edo state, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday paid a courtesy visit to the newly coronated Oba of Benin kingdom, Oba Ewaure II just as he paid glooming tribute to the transited Oba Erediauwa.
President Buhari who was accompanied to the Palace of Benin Monarch by top notchs of the APC which include; the national Chairman cum former governor of the state, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Governor Oshiomhole, amongst others.
President Buhari described Oba Erediauwa as an epitome of development to the nation, saying that the late oba’s immense contributions as a federal Permanent Secretary and other areas of human endeavours were invaluable to the development and growth of Nigeria especially during its critical period.
While thanking Oba Ewuare ll for his magnanimity of receiving him, the president pledged his government support to Edo state, just as he congratulated the Benin Monarch for his successful coronation as the 40th Oba of the kingdom.
Earlier, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II had expressed delight over the historic visit to his Palace and Edo State, saying that president Buhari was the first to be hosted in the newly constructed Palace auditorium after his coronation.
Oba Ewuare II who during the occasion commended governor Adams Oshiomhole for his developmental strides in the state as well as his unprecedented respect for the Traditional institution in the kingdom, thanked the president for his support and goodwill during his coronation.
The Benin Monarch, who also commended the federal government fight against corruption , however, appealed to President Buhari to expedite action towards transforming the Gele-Gele river into an Export Processing zone which according to the highly revered Monarch would alleviate unemployment issues in the country as well as boosting the economy of Nigeria.
On his part, the outgoing Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole stated that the visit was an indication of good things to come Edo State.
Governor Oshiomhole thanked President Buhari for his goodwill towards the actualisation of the coronation of the Benin Monarch and said, “my tasks in Edo State is done.”
Meanwhile, the president and his entourage were treated to good cultural dance by the Inne Cultural Troupe.
