In a bid to insist on public hearing, the embattled House of Representative Member Representing Kiru-Babeji Federal Constituency, Kano, Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin declined appearance before the Ethics and Privilege Committee of the House of Representatives over allegation of budget fraud and corruption he leveled against Speaker Dogara and three other principal officers.
He declared this in a press statement issued Thursday after an observation of House proceedings concerning the allegations.
The legislator agitated for public discussion of the matter and in the same vein condemned the opportunity-of-speech granted to the Chairman of Business and Rules Committee by Speaker Dogara which transited to a motion as manipulation and gross abuse of the House rule, dismissing the act as a legislative trick.                                                                                                                             The motion was however passed and referred to the Committee on Ethics and  Previlege with one week to submit its report.
Honourable Jibrin however insisted on public hearing since he can substantiate the allegation he made against Speaker Dogara, Deputy Speaker Yusuf Lason, House Whip Alhasan Doguwa, Minority Leader Leo Ogor and few others. “I Will take up the opportunity provided by the Ethics Committee to state my case under the condition that the hearing would be made public and allow the press, CSOs, NGOs, NLC, ASUU, NANS, NBA and the general public o witness the entire proceedings”.
He further expressed readiness to appear before the committee anytime the proceedings would be public.
