Former IGP Sunday Adewusi dies at 80

A former Inspector General of Police, Chief Sunday Adewusi is dead at age 80.
This was made known in a statement made available to journalists last night signed by the former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala.
The statement reads “I hereby announce with gratitude to God the home calling and glorious transition of Chief Sunday Adedayo Adewusi GCON, IGP (rtd), NPM, the Asiwaju of Ogbomoso born Dec 6th, 1936 and transited January 26th 2016 at the age of 80”.
The former governor in the statement added that “Papa Sunday Adewusi was the Inspector General of Police between 1981 and 1983 during Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Sagari’s regime”.
“He was the Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland and loved by all and sundry till his demise. Chief Sunday Adewusi would always be remembered for his love for Ogbomosoland in particular and his patriotic zeal for his fatherland, Nigeria.”
He stressed further in the statement that “today, I Adebayo Alao Akala mourns a great icon and mentor but celebrates a pious Christian, lover of God and humanity, a lover of nobly virtues and a prayer warrior. He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grand children” the statement concluded.
