From DAUDA MBAYA, Maiduguri
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has sworn in seven newly appointed permanent secretaries into the state civil service to fill the vacuum created by the retirement of some permanent secretaries.
While swearing in permanent secretaries at the Government House Maiduguri, yesterday Governor Shettima called on them to carry their staff along, and respect their commissioners who are the chief executives of their respective ministries.
He said civil service is the engine room of the implementation of government policies and programmes, as such they should see their appointment as a call to serve the state and humanity at large.
The governor said that for fairness and justice three permanent secretaries were selected from Borno south while Borno North and central got two permanent secretaries each, adding that very soon some other local government will be considered in subsequent appointments.
Responding on behalf of the new permanent secretaries, Alhaji Alkali Bulama thanked the governor for the opportunity and assured them that they will justify the confidence reposed on them by the government and the people of the state.
He said they were aware of the responsibilities bestowered on them by the appointment and promised to contribute their quarta the development of the state by dedicating themselves to the service of the state.
