Borno State Government has sent a powerful delegation led by the Deputy Governor, H.E Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur to condole an NGO Medicine Du Monde (MDM), over the brutal murder of one of their staff, Mrs Alem Mulugeta Getahun by a Nigerian soldier in Damboa town.
The deputy governor said the state governor, H.E Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum upon receiving the news of the murder of the humanitarian worker, was shocked and decided to send the delegation to commensurate with MDM over the unfortunate murder of Mrs Getahun and has condemned in totality, the unruly behavior of the Nigerian soldier.
The delegation therefore, prayed for Almighty God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the UN organization as well as members of her family, the fortitude to bear the loss.
The international director operations of MDM, Dr. Florence Rigal in her response, thanked the Borno State for sending a delegation to condole them over the death of their staff and called on the state government and the military to setup an investigation team with representation from MDM to investigate the incident to avoid further killing of their staff who are determined to provide health humanitarian assistance to the people.
She added that at the moment, they have suspended their services at Damboa, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The deputy governor presented a condolence letter to the organization on behalf of the Borno State Government.
