Ex soldiers, from the Niger Delta areas are mobilizing to checkmate the activities of the avengers who in recent times have bombed and destroyed oil pipelines in the region.
Investigation by our correspondent revealed that plans by the ex-soldiers have reached an advanced stage as they intend to convene a larger meeting for the purpose of putting an end to the destruction of the oil pipelines and other oil installations in the oil rich area.
According to one ex soldier who pleaded anonimity “we have kept quiet for too long watching these people destroy the pipelines”.
They further noted that the way the militants are going they seem not to understand that they are destroying not only oil pipelines but also the environment.
The ex-soldiers however called on the avengers to consider the consequences of their actions and change tactics to achieve peace.
Meanwhile, the movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), which gave the Federal Government two weeks ultimatum last Saturday, to declare it’s proper stand on the proposed dialogue, has extended invitation to the avengers to join in the peace dialogue.
