Blind Association Decries Bias On Dividend Of Democracy

The Chairman Kaduna State Branch of Nigeria Association of the Blind Haruna Abubakar Sardaunan Makafin Zazzau has expressed concern over what he called bias shown to the people with disability in the state as  regards to sharing of dividends of democracy by politicians.
Haruna Abubakar who stated this at the 10th edition of distribution of Braille Materials, typewriters, writing frame, stratus, Braille papers, blind textbooks and talking watches as well as the distribution of food items to some widows among them which was held at Zaria Local Government Council Chamber on Tuesday.
He said people with disability have been relegated to the background from enjoying whatever politicians and government are giving out but forgotten that, whenever they are seeking for mandate they followed them house to house canvassing for their votes.
The state chairman of NAB lamented that, they become a barrow pushers without any consideration, and hoped that in the near future things will change for the better.
On the part of Zaria Local Government, he called on the officials to reconsider the return of their Rehabilitation Centre at Rimin Kwakwa which was taken over by the Local Government Council.
In their separate remarks, Alhaji Sani Hassan and Malam Mustapha Abubakar (HOD) Scpecial Education FCE Zaria urged both Government and well meaning citizens to support people with disability by sponsoring them to continue with their studies.
They call on government and private individuals to come to the aids of Blind Association in their efforts of assisting themselves which they said, they are against street begging but how can they stopped it without any support, they asked.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the Association Zaria Branch Comrade Dalhatu Jibril expressed concern over the situation people with disability found themselves since the inception of democracy in the state in 1999 to date.
Comrade Dalhatu Jibril said, they have never enjoy free school, medical and revenue despite their status as disabled but yet government continue to warn them on street begging as how can they stopped.
