Biotechnology: Second Batch Katsîna Students Depart For China

Second batch of sixty eight (68) students of Katsina State have left the country for Degree Programme on Biotechnology and Artificial Intelligence in China with a warning by the state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda that, any of the students failed to excell academically will be replaced

The 68 students were selected on merit from Public Schools across the 34 local government areas while the first batch of 41 students have already in Egypt to studying Medicine (MBBS).

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in his farewell address to the departing Second batch students held at Presidential banquet hall, General Muhammadu Buhari (Government) house, katsina charged them to be “Good Ambassadors of the state, their Parents and the Country in General.”

Governor Dikko Radda disclosed that, two students were selected from each local government area based on competence and their Scholarship was a joint venture between the state Government and the 34 local government councils of the state.

“We have paid in full all your academic requirements including tuition fees, Accomodations, heath insurance,monthly upkeep and book allowance apart from the traveling documents,” Governor Radda said.

Governor Radda assured to visit the students in China and reiterated the need for “regular contact between the students and their parents to ascertain their Academic performance.”

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Governor of the state, Honourable Faruq Lawal Jobe who double as the chairman coordinating committee on foreign scholarship program said.

thorough screenings were conducted to each of the 68 departing students after undergone merit- based examination including computer and Police screening to ensure only competent students with good moral conducts are recommended for the foreign scholarship.

Also speaking, chairman ALGON who is also the chairman of Kaita local government Council,Engineer Bello Lawal Yandaki said the unique opportunity given to the the talented students from less privileged families would put katsina state on the map of most developed States in the country.and promised their support toward the direction.

Two of the parents Malam Lawal Sani Wanzam from Batagarawa and Shitu Dodo from Malumfashi local governments expressed gratitude to the state government for the un-biased and unique access to quality education to their.children under the foreign scholarship

On their part, the students Musa Abubakar from Dan-musa local government and Hafsat Hamisu from Jibia Local Government Area expressed gratitude to governor Dikko Radda for the rear and life changing opportunities given to them and promised to be a pride to their families, the state and the nation in general.
