Be strong, resolute for change – Ajimobi to Nigerians
By; Bayo Akamo, Ibadan.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has advisedNigerians to be strong and resolute for the country to be able to move forward under the present political dispensation .
The governor who gave the advice in his New Year message made available to journalists in Ibadan declared that with the ongoing change mantra in the country, the time has come for Nigerians to be determined more than before.
“This is consequently not the time to slacken our hold on the steering wheel of change; this is not the occasion to despair in the face of our apparent challenges. This is the time to be strong and resolute; the time to convert our obstacles into stepping stones of greatness,” he said.
The governor while describing year 2016 as a year of greater possibilities said “2016 therefore provides us all that great opportunity to collectively create and enjoy what can truly become a year of spectacular new beginnings for all who put their hands to the plough.
“This new year is of particular significance to us as a people, especially if we recall that the latter part of the out gone year witnessed the dawn of a new Nigeria – when the torch of Change was lit across nation”.
He stressed that with the global and national economic realities of dwindling oil prices and mounting sectarian tensions, things may seem daunting, but that in Oyo State, his administration had passionately spent the past 4 years preparing for the complete restoration of structures and values that will ensure the transformation and repositioning of our people and resources for sustainable development.
“Notwithstanding the negative predictions of some apostles of doom, I am very optimistic about 2016 because we in Oyo State are putting in the work. I am even more sure-footed about this year because our people have shown the courage and commitment required for turning around our dire circumstances into a pyramid of possibilities. I am encouraged because our young and old men, women and children have all demonstrated a willingness to rise and shine despite the fog on the horizon. I therefore trust and can say on behalf of our good people that, together as partners, we would raise the banner of Oyo State and take our rightful place as one of the leading lights of our nation”.
