An All inclusive stakeholders meeting of the Congress for Progressive Change CPC members in Nasarawa state took place yesterday in Lafia with a call on members to remain steadfast and work in tendam with the philosophy and ideologis of the party.
Addressing the gathering Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura said the party was built on trust, faithfulness and commitment to the common man, adding that these virtues must be upheld by all members.
According to him, the transparency and accountability in governance being exhibited by the CPC government has become a household name, saying that “we are the true government of the common man”
He said, the open door policy operated by his administration was a sign that there is nothing to hide adding that our government can at any given time give details of its transactions and financial obligations.
He said since the coming of the administration the state got N36 billion  as revenue, paid N24 bn as salaries of workers, while also settling a backlog of inherited debt to the tune of N30 bn out of which he was able to pay N18 bn.
‘’My administration, taking cognisance of the paucity of funds, decided to complete projects started by the previous administration that have direct bearing on the lives of the people.  CPC administration will not embark on ostentatious projects’’ he said
Al-makura observed that since there is no precedence for the party to follow, because Nasarawa is the only CPC state, people across the country look up to the state to see how the party is faring and whether the CPC manifesto will bear fruit, and appealed to members to shun all acts capable of tarnishing the image of the people.
In a bid to further build party structures across the state, the governor announced that henceforth, all political appointees in the state, will donate 5% of their salaries that will be channelled toward sustaining the party.
The meeting was attended by all political appointees, party chairmen from in the state local government and ward levels.
