Be Proactive In Moving Our Association Forward, Chairman Of Kaduna Deaf Sports Tells Board Members

Chairman of the Kaduna Deaf Sports Association, Patrick Ishaya has tasked board members of the association to proactive and committed to development of the sports in the state.

He gave the charge, in the Oath Taking/Inauguration of Deaf Sports Association Board Members , were 10 members of the board.took oaths  at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna on  Thursday September 8, 2022.

“I urge all appointed board members to recognize the importance and enormity of the task before you

and the critical role you will play in the development of Deaf Sports in Kaduna State. 

“Therefore, I enjoin you all to be proactive in fostering and promoting inclusion in Deaf sports for greater publicity and

positive public image in order to provide better connection and diverse sports community.

“On this note, I wish you all the success that you need as you undertake this very important assignment,” he said.

He  recalled that the Ministry of Sports Development Kaduna State inaugurated chairmen of all sports associations  and charged them to inaugurate their board members, but due to challenges beyond their control, they couldn’t hold the inauguration till now.

The chairman said that, “As you may be aware that deaf sports is very important as an integral way of uniting and engaging  them from roaming the streets or begging for alms.

The Ministry of sports development sponsored the Kaduna State Special Education School to the 5th edition of the All Nigeria Deaf Schools Football Championship tagged” Ganduje Cup  2022 at Kano State. Behold,  they went, they saw, they conquered.  

“All thanks to the Ministry of Sports Development. school emerged as the tournament champions by defeating Nassarawa State Deaf School 2-1.

“The state Deaf athletes also participated at the maiden edition of Para Games in Abuja from 9th to 15th April, 2022 winning gold in Javelin (male), silver and bronze in 400m & 800m (female) respectively. 

“In the last few years, Kaduna State Deaf athletes tax themselves to honour sports tournaments as far as to Sokoto State and Abuja on their own.

“Each time they go, they come back with trophies but because they were never given any attention in the past, most of them left to other states in search of greener pastures. 

“Their recent performance at both

Kano and Abuja paved way for the invitation of four players from Kaduna State to the camp of Deaf

Eagles in preparation for West Africa Deaf Football Championship coming up soon at Cotevoire in a fortnight,” he said.

He said that  in the last few years, Deaf Sports in Kaduna State suffered total neglect until this present administration.

“I hope the ministry of sports will give this lads the needed support to achieve thier dreams.It is my frank

believe that Kaduna state deserve a viable deaf Sports board.

“I hope the ministry will maintain its lead by assisting Deaf athletes to facilitate Deaf Sports in the state

and the country at large.

 “I want to thank the Honourable commissioner of sports development again for

viciously approving this new board for the first time in the history of Deaf Sports in Kaduna State. Let me thank very sincerely the Honourable commissioner again because this new board comprises of eminent young men who have been selected based on their technical expertise in Deaf Sports.

“It is my singular honour and pleasure to call on the following appointed members of the Deaf Sports Association board to stand up for the oath of office.

10. Shuaibu Hashimu” he said.

Responding on behalf of the inaugurated board members,  Suleiman Mustapha Danasabe, who is their PRO, promised that they would put in their best into developing deaf sports in the state.
