Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai of Kaduna State, on Tuesday called on the media to be more objective in their reporting on issues of killings and kidnappings in the country.
The Governor said this when Zamfara State Council of Chiefs led by the Chairman, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, the Emir of Zamfara State, were in Government House on a courtesy visit in Kaduna on Tuesday.
He alleged that, when the Fulani’s are killing the Fulani’s or Hausa’s killing the Hausa’s there’s no news but when religious crises occurs in a state, it is a news to the media.
According to him, the life of every human being is important, therefore the same attention should be given to the loss of lives irrespective of their religion.
He explained that, what happened in Zamfara State was a tragedy, unfortunate and monumental proportion that needed to be handled to promote peace in the state.
He stressed that, what happened in Zamfara State is a thing of concern that affects everyone in the country.
He disclosed that, It is the duty of all to joined hands together and fight the battle of kidnappings and killings in the state.
He observed that, the states governors have decided to provide needed equipment for security agents towards effective securing of lives and properties of Nigerians.
He explained further, that this decision will be further discuss in their next northern states governors meeting.
In a remark, the Chairman, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, noted that killing and kidnappings is becoming too rampant in the country.
He noted that, there’s an urgent need to put a stop to it, in avoidance of further occurrence in the country.
He urged the states governments to do more towards securing and protecting lives and properties of Nigerians.
