Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has implored the newly inaugurated Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki to operate an all-inclusive government that gives all citizens of the state a sense of belonging so as to fast-track development.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, stated that the inauguration of Governor Obaseki and his Deputy, Phillip Shuaibu, offer fresh hope for consolidation in the state.
The governor advised Obaseki to build on the solid foundation already laid by former Gov. Adams Oshiomhole, adding that since the people of the state have opted for continuity, it was time to translate the confidence reposed in the APC-led government into improved social welfare and service delivery.
Governor Sani Bello who expressed confidence in the capacity and ability of Obaseki to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Edo people, enjoined him to live up to campaign promises and party manifesto of Relief, Recovery and Reform, urging the new team to be magnanimous in victory.
“I urge you to live up to your vision of building ‘a modern and progressive Edo State where every citizen is empowered with opportunity to live life in its fullness.’  Above all, you must realize that you are now governor of all, irrespective of political, ideological, religious and ethnic differences.”
Governor Sani Bello commended the effort of former Comrade-Governor Oshiomhole and urged all stakeholders to rally round Obaseki for the progress and development of the state.
Obaseki who was elected governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on September 29, 2016, and was sworn on 12 November, 2016, is an alumni of the Unversity of Ibadan (UI) and the Columbia University in the United States.
