Saddened by the rising spate of insecurity in Nigeria, President of President of The United Church of Christ In NIgeria (HEKAN),   Rev. (Dr.) Amos G. Kiri has tasked the federal, states and local  government  areas to step up fight against bandits and kidnappers in the country.

He made the call, while delivering his speech at the 56th  Hekan Annual National Convention, in Kaduna on Sunday April 3,  2022.

“I am saddened to note that hardly a day passes in this country without the sad news of the killings of innocent Nigerians either through kidnappers; Bandits, Unknown Gunmen, ritualists etc.
” These groups seem to be having their field day. I am also aware of the efforts of the armed forces and the vigilante groups in curbing these menaces. More efforts need to be intensified.
“I am therefore calling on the governments at all levels, to step up the fight against bandits and kidnappers in this country,” he said.
He frowned at the recent killings in Kebbi State, Southern Kaduna and other parts of the country, the entrance of bandits into Kaduna International Airport and the bombing of the rail track/train and kidnapping of unnumbered passengers on board that train as reported, and consistent terrorist attacks on unprotected communities across the country; calls for serious reorganization of the security network.
“Often times, I have said that these heartless people are not invisible and invincible; they have human bodies and mingle with us daily,” he said.
Speaking further, he said, “Therefore, government should properly equip our security personnel with technological devices that have capacity to monitor the movement of these criminals perpetrating evil.
“Their movements should be monitored. Those caught should face the wrath of the law,” he advised.
Reverend Kiri demanded that those aiding, sponsoring and financing them should also face the law.
“For those that have lost their dear ones in the insecurity killings, may the good Lord give you special comfort.
“May the souls of those who have departed this world find eternal rest with the Lord,” he prayed.
