With the winding up last weekend of Bauchi state workers’ verification exercise, Governor Mohammed Abubakar approved the release of February and March salaries of the second batch of late submission of verified workers in all the ministries, departments and agencies in the state.
Payment of the re-verified and cleared workers in 64 of the 70 MDAs in the state commenced Friday, the 15th of April, with the six outstanding ministries, departments and agencies whose workers are being scrutinized are the Bauchi State Judiciary, Shari’ah Court of Appeal, State Hospitals Management Board, Ministry of Health and Bauchi Zonal Education I and II.
A statement signed by the Press Secretary to the State Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique said that workers captured in the second batch of late submission in the verification are those having salary accounts in Micro Finance Banks and Jaiz Bank, and 70% of the coverage was given to workers who were physically verified in local government areas (LGAs) and the local education authorities (LEAs).
According to the statement, 100% of workers in local government areas and the local education authorities have been physically re-verified in Bauchi North and South senatorial districts while re-verification of those in Central district is being completed, thus giving more than 75% payment of salaries of the state workforce.
Al-Sadique explained that report of the workers verification committee is expected to be submitted to the state government next week, and thanked workers, their unions and the general public for showing understanding and support throughout the verification exercise.
Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, the statement said, has assured workers of prompt payment of their salaries and salary related entitlements after this clean up exercise, stressing however that culprits will be brought to book.
It would be recalled that following the approval by Governor Mohammed Abubakar for the payment of 2015/2016 bursaries for students of Bauchi state origin amounting to over N166 million,  screening for the scholarship payment has already been completed at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, and the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi.
The state government therefore appealed to all students to remain in their respective schools as the scholarship payment committee will only pay them in the schools.
