Bauchi Police Operatives Rescue 55 Kidnapped Victims From Captors

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Umar Mamman Sanda has expressed confidence and saluted the courage and vision of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba for their unrelenting efforts in ensuring an absolute drive towards reforming the Police Force to conform to international standards and global best practices.

This the commissioner said, is demonstrated in successes so far recorded by the Nigeria Police force in dealing with disciplinary-related matters such as; extortion, abuse of power, corruption and other unprofessional conduct of officers and men of the force while dealing with members of the public.

Sanda, in a goodwill message to the one-day Police Public Complaint Sensitization Campaign in Bauchi Friday, explained that policemen and their sympathizers have to calibrate the repercussion of their actions first when trying to indulged themselves in unprofessional conduct.

There is no gain saying the fact that the Bauchi State Police Command in particular is very determined to tackling public complaint matters and other legitimate grievances without leaving any stone unturned.

CP Umar Sanda recalled that from his assumption of duty as the 43rd Commissioner of Police Bauchi on the 29th November 2021 till date, the Command recorded 722 cases and arrested over 1460) suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the state, as it also rescued 55 kidnapped victims from their captors 

Exhibits recovered from the kidnappers during the period included 5 AK-47 rifles,145 live ammunitions, 20 local revolver-made guns, 10 Dane guns, 20 cartridges, 45 machetes, 1 other AK-47 rifle, 2 assault rifles,  and 8 other live ammunitions.

Other exhibits recovered, according the commissioner, are 1 pistol revolver with 5 rounds of ammunition,1 locally made pistol revolver and 13 Dene guns, 9 Fabricated revolvers, 1 single barrel,1 double barrel and 3 cartridges,14 Motorcycles, 5 Laptops,10 Keke Napep, 81 blocks of Cannabis,101 different handsets, as well as monetary exhibits worth N7,193,000:00k.

The commissioner attributed the successes actionable intelligence from members of the public whom, he described, as partners in progress sharing the desires and aspirations to maintain a safe and secure environment for all law-abiding citizens in the state and Nigeria in general.

CP Umar Mamman Sanda then congratulated the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi and his management team for bringing up initiatives which, he noted, would bring members of the public closer to the police for effective service delivery.
