Bauchi PDP attempts resurection, reconciles factions

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Bauchi weekend met on an accord of how to reposition and reconcile the party and its members in the state.
The PDP stakeholders at a meeting held at Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi agreed to reposition the party to next high level and reconcile aggrieved members and factions of the party.
Stakeholders’ presents at the meeting included former FCT Minister Bala Mohammed, Senator Adamu Gumba, Senator Abdul Ningi, Senator Babayo Gamawa, former deputy Governor Abdulmalik Mahmud, and members of the State Executives of the party.
The State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Yaro Yaro, said the meeting was aimed at putting to an end all factions, and preaches to one another the gospel of unity in the political system within the state and the nation at large.
According to him, the party will constitute reconciliation and finance committee that will carry out the responsibility of bringing together under one umbrella, members of the party.
In his remark the former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, had in a remark said politicians should not allow prolonged malice and animosity to interfere with the political will among members which would hinder the success of the party.
“I will not leave PDP because this is not my kind of politics”, he told the meeting, adding “I have never said that I was leaving the PDP because I lost the seat of the national chairman”.
“Whoever feels I have offended him, I will ask for forgiveness because this is politics, there is no room for institutionalized animosity,’’ he said.
The former Minister called on party members to ensure that all fences were mended in order to bring the party to its real status.
He explained that internal democracy should be the watchword of members in order to avoid further rancor and division in the party which would do more harm than good to the party’s political arena.
Also speaking Senator Abdul Ningi, said justice and equity should be done to all members who are expected to be self-disciplined in order to achieve a common set goal for the party.
“We all need to come back and make the party great again through collective efforts of ensuring that there is no more factions,’’ he said.
Former Deputy Governor, Abdulmalik Mahmoud also challenged PDP stakeholders in the state to embrace internal democracy.
Mahmoud regretted the abysmal failure of the PDP in 2015 elections and attributed same to lack of justice and internal democracy among members.
According to him, it is time the PDP should put its house in order preparatory to the party’s convention at all levels.
Senator Babayo Garba Gamawa urged PDP supporters to shun their difference and embrace unity as he vowed to remain in PDP.
Absent at the Bauchi PDP stakeholders meeting, were the two former governors and leaders of the party Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mua’zu and Mallam Isa Yuguda.
