Bauchi Nursing and Midwifery College to commence academic programme

Bauchi State College of Nursing and Midwifery has been provided facilties by the Ministry of Health to enable the College meet up guidelines by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Halima Mukaddas made pronouncement for the two 30-seater buses and two official vehicles for the provost and registrar of the College while officially handing over the vehicles in Bauchi.
He said the College which would produce more manpower to the health sector of the state was yet to be accredited since 2011.
Dr. Halima Mukaddas said that one of the college contractors has been brought back to site to continue with erection and completion of structure in the college.
“Since the Ministries of Health and education got the lion share for the 2016 budget, more resources will be invested in the College to see that it meets the council’s requirements in order to commence studies”, she said.
Mukaddas explained that part of the guidelines was the provision of vehicles to the management and students of the College.
“Bauchi State Government which is committed towards achieving its set goals has provided two 30-seater buses that will convey the students and two official vehicles for the Provost and Registrar,’’ Mukaddas revealed.
She later undertook an inspection tour of ongoing construction and renovation work within the College premises and expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far, saying the institution ought to have commenced academic work since 2011 but for some exigencies.
Mukaddas assured that as soon as the ongoing renovation was completed, admission of students and accreditation of courses would commence in earnest.
In his response, the Provost of the College, Malam Gambo Santali said that the action of the Ministry has clearly expressed the commitment of the state government for the proper take off of the college.
Santali appreciated the concerned of the state government to further train students in the field of Health in other to meet the health personnel needs of the state.
He explained that by renovating the site of the College which hitherto was the College of Business and Accounting Studies, accreditation of courses would commence in order for the institution to fully commence its academic programmes.
