Bauchi State Anti-Social Vices Committee has expressed its support to the newly introduced policy of the Federal Government aimed at checking anti-social behaviors among Nigerians.
The Chairman of the Committee, Malam Abdullahi Ali lend the credence while speaking to newsmen at the headquarters of the committee at Kofar Dumi Ward in the state capital.
Malam Abdullahi Ali noted that the new programme tagged, ‘Change Begins With Me’ could not have come at a better time than now when Nigerians need total overhaul of character and behavior to move the country to greater heights.
He observed that since the establishment of the state committee in 2011, it has so far impacted positively in the fight against social ills in the society, particularly the menace of ‘Sara Suka’.
The chairman explained that the group operates 24 hours every day with support from philanthropists and individuals in order to support security organizations to successfully discharge their responsibilities.
Ali recalled that prior to the committee’s operations, some of the Sara-suka hoodlums almost caused disruption of normal business activities in most parts of Bauchi metropolis, as they brandished weapons and carry attacks anytime they wish.
Also speaking, the state patron of the committee, Alhaji Suleman Dugoliya, commended the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Suleman Adamu for putting a request to the State Governor during his Sallah homage; on the need for government’s support to the committee to enable it effectively discharge its duties.
Alhaji Suleman Dugoliya however expressed concern on the recent fictionalization of the committee, and called on all aggrieved members to mend their differences and work towards fighting all forms of social vices in the state.
