Senator Ali Wakili, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District has alleged plans to suspend him and others from the All Progressives Congress, APC in Tafawa Balewa Local Government of the State.
The party leadership in Tafawa Balewa Local Government in a letter dated January 8th, 2017, addressed to the Local Government party chairman, Mijinyawa Hardo and signed by Markus Silas stated that they have decided to suspend the Senator from the party.
The Tafawa Balewa APC chieftains alleged in the letter that Senator Ali Wakili has committed series of offences inimical to the progress of the party.
‘It has come to our notice that senator Ali Wakili has been organising several political meetings in his house and other places outside the party office with a view to causing fractionalisation within the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Lere North Ward and Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State”, it said.
Senator Ali Wakili however in a statement alleged that there are plans by some officials of All Progressives Congress (APC) to expel him and other elected members from the party.
The statement signed by his Senior Legislative Aide, Mohammed Ladan Ahmed, the senator stated that the plan has the support of the state government and the leadership of the party.
He said the plan to expel him and the others was allegedly hatched at the residence of acting ‎Bauchi South APC Zonal Vice‎ Chairman, Murtala Ibrahim Kundum which was attended by the recently removed Tafawa Balewa APC party chairman, Mijinyawa Hardo.
“The move which has the tacit connivance with the state government, is hinged on the premise that the removed APC chairman together with the party’s zonal chairman, Murtala Ibrahim Kundum will be provided with‎ adequate security details by the state government to storm Bununu town, headquarters of Tafawa Balewa local government area and announce the purported expulsion of the distinguished Senator and Hon. Aminu Tukur, member representing Lere/Bula in the State House of Assembly,” it stated.
The statement by Senator Ali Wakili which copies were made available to security agencies in the state, called on the security agencies to continue to perform their constitutional role of protection of lives and property of citizens while maintaining neutrality on issues of politics.
“We want alert members of the public of the continuous onslaught to diminish Senator Ali Wakili and destruct him from providing effective representation, not only to the people of Bauchi South but to the entire Nigerian state”, statement concluded.
It would be recalled that last week majority executives of the APC in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state passed a vote of no confidence on the Local Government Chairman of the party, Alhaji Mijinyawa Hardo for what they described as anti-party activities.
