BASG saves N800M from 19, 241 ghost workers, pensioners

Bauchi state government has so far saved about N800 million from its monthly payment of salaries and pensions in the on-going verification exercise to ascertain the strength of its workforce and pensioners in the state.
A press statement signed by Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the state governor, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed said the exercise has so far detected 19, 241 ghost workers.
“So far some 19, 241 ghost workers have been discovered saving for the Government a total sum of over seven hundred and ninety seven million four hundred and sixty five thousand (N797, 465, 000).
Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed revealed that the on-going verification exercise is expected on completion to save for the state government about one billion naira monthly across the state, local governments and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
He explained that the Bauchi state government embarked on the verification exercise in the face of dwindling resources and in keeping with its resolve to ensure probity, accountability and prudent in governance and of the state scarce resources.
