Barewa College gets multi-million aira e-Library

The Eighty Five million naira e-Library project constructed and furnished by Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) named after Sir Kashim Ibrahim at Barewa College, Zaria has been commissioned.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Dikko Suleiman represented by Dr. Abdu Gambo said the eproject was part of their effort to enhance teaching and learning process as well reading culture among students.
Dr. Dikko advised the college authority to ensure that the e-Library is fully utilized by teachers and students.
He assured the Kaduna State Government and Barewa College of their continued desire to further uplift the academic status, infrastructural development and restoring the lost glory of the college through UBEC mandates in basic education delivery.
The Executive Secretary called on Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i to liase with UBEC to transform the College to World Class institution.
In his message, Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i of Kaduna state through Science and Education Commissioner Dr. Usman Adamu Dan Fulani, said the problems of education in Northern part of Nigeria have for long been so fundamental that it requires the attention of well meaning individuals and organization such as Barewa Old Boys Association to complement government efforts in the sector.
According to him, numerous initiatives of BOBA especially in the education sector have been very commendable.
He said they will strive to bring to the people the benefit of democracy including peace and unity.
Also in his remarks, the former Head of state General Yakubu Gowon commended BOBA for improving the academics performance in the examinations.
Gen. Gowon hoped that the success and progress recorded by the college in all the examinations will be maintained.
Commenting on behalf of the Kashim Ibrahim family, the Minister of State for Forieng Affairs, Hajiya  Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim thanked the Kaduna State Government, UBEC and BOBA for the honour done to their family.
She appealled to government to restore history subject in the curriculum of school for the younger and indeed future generations to benefit from.
The commissioning ceremony was performed by Sultan of Sokoto who was represented by the Emir of Lere Alh. Garba Mohammed.
