Suspected bandits on Sunday evening, attacked Apiye Jim village in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed 11 persons.
The attackers, according a source in the village stormed the area while it was raining and divided themselves into groups to targeted houses and carried out their heinous crimes.
According to the source, “Many people are missing as a result of the attack. It becomes impossible for one to ascertain the number of those injured and even those killed but so far, l have counted and found 11 dead bodies in different locations this morning.”
The source further explained that the attackers came in large number, adding that they divided themselves into groups and executed their operations in about 10 minutes and left while it was raining heavily in the evening.
The source added, “What we are experiencing from the attacks of the suspected Fulani militias is a designed programme to carry out their illicit act without any community doing anything wrong to them, besides, the killings of individuals is ongoing if one is caught within the vicinity close to Zangon Kataf urban.
“For quite sometimes, the Atyapland is left to carry out its cross in the hands of the attackers who moved from one village to the another killing, maiming, burning houses and destroying crops in farmlands at will without arrest on these group of people.
“With the various attacks and the occupation of our forest where we cultivate for our survival, this year, we are busy trying to save ourselves from the attackers as people are not thinking of going to farm. Those who have ventured to go to farm are being killed. So one sees hunger railing its head in Atyapland next year.”
He called on the federal and Kaduna state governments to please raise to the occasion and save the people from total elimination from the hands of the suspected Fulani militias that have given themselves in successfully carrying out their evil intentions.
A phone call and text put to the Kaduna state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige on the incident could not be responded up to the time of filing this story.
