*pledges to develop rural areas if elected governor of Kaduna

Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) , Senator Uba Sani has added his voice to the creation of state police just as he disclosed of a bill in the National Assembly to arm local vigilantes to bear assault firearms in order to match firepower of insurgents and bandits .
Uba Sani, an incumbent senator of Kaduna Central stressed the need to update the nation’s laws on firearms which he noted were obsolete to make bearing of assault rifles by local vigilantes legit so they could confront terrorist elements head-on .
The governorship hopeful while commending governor elRufai for paying attention to the state capital by his urban renewal project which he said had given the Capital of the Old Northern Region the status befitting of it , promised to focus on rural areas without abandoning the city if elected chief executive officer of the state in 2023 general election .
He decried low number of security personnel protecting lives and property of Nigerians , calling for recruiting of two million policemen to cater for the shortfalls in internal security architecture of the country.
He revealed he had attracted over five billion naira worth of projects to his constituency as senator of Kaduna central zone , adding that he was the only senator from the state in the present democratic dispensation to have initiated and ensured the passage of non executive bills into law.
The ex – aid of former president Obasanjo , while challenging his critics , particularly co contestants to display their past records in public service , enjoined people of the state to assess governorship hopeful based on antecedents .
He lamented the rising number of out of school children , stating that 13.7 million kids not in learning institutions, with majority in the north was unacceptable , promising to change the trend by allocating 25 percent of annual expenditure to education .
” My predecessors at the senate instead of working for the people who sent them there spent their time at the Red Chamber fighting their governor .
” Security issue is a national problem which should be approached from critical dimensions such as reviewing our laws that has been obsolete for over 17 years now to give room for communities to create and equip local vigilantes who are capable of confronting these criminal terrorists causing havock in our society .
” Governors by virtue of their position as chief security officers of their states, should have control over security apparatus so they can take responsibilities for failure or success of security arrangements in their respective areas of authority .
” Nigeria as a country of over 200 million with over half of over 500 million illegal firearms in circulation in the Sahel region deserve no less than two million police personnel to start with before we steadily increase the figure gradually if we must confront the problem of banditry and insurgency in our domain .
” Agriculture will receive our attention by providing enabling environment for our farmers to produce using modern mechanized farming method and have a bumper harvest for internal consumption and export.
” We will make our educational system skills friendly so our graduates can be self reliant in different vocations and trades .
” No government has done better than governor el-Rufai in the history of Kaduna State thus , I will build from where he stopped,” he assured .
