Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has enjoined people in the state to be extra vigilant in trapping the activities of informants working for the bandits.
The governor was speaking at the handing over of some nine armoured personnel carriers vehicles procured by his administration to support the joint operations of security personnel in the fight against banditry.
Alhaji Aminu Masari alleged that all house attacks made by bandits are mostly aided by the informants who reside within our communities.
He appeared to members of the public to block any chance for suspicious neighbors to know more about their movements or sources of their wealth.
According to him, activities of informants need to be promptly reported to security Agencies for necessary action.
Alhaji Aminu Masari assured that the State Government would continue to use its resources available to rid the State of banditry.
The governor however, urged journalists to be objective in reporting casualties on the part of bandits in any encounter with security personnel rather than dwelling on the number of innocent victims kidnapped or killed by the bandits.
In the meantime, Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari has directed the operators of the joint security Agencies communication center in Katsina to provide more accessible cell phone lines in the software developed to receive calls on any threat by the criminal.
This he said was to widen the accessibility of the center by members of various communities across the State.
The governor gave the directive when the special adviser on security matters conducted him round to inspect facilities in place at the center.
Alhaji Aminu Masari who appreciated the indigene of Katsina State for developing a software application, was particularly happy that users of GSM android can now download the application for easy access in reporting movement of bandits directly to the center for quick response from security personnel.
The governor reaffirmed commitment to develop more ways of tracking down the activities of bandits in the state.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the State Governor on security matters Ibrahim Ahmed Katsina said the center was being jointly operated by security personnel involved in the fight against banditry.
According to him, members of the public can now access the center using the software application developed by an indigene of Katsina.
Also briefing the governor a coordinating consultant at the center Dr Mukhtar Alkasim said the center had three Major units for easy management of information.
They include rapid response, full pledged research and Documentation units.
A representative of the UNDP who also led some officials from the organization reaffirmed preparedness to further support the state government in the fight against banditry.
