Deputy General Overseer of the United Apostolic Church of Christ, Reverend James Adebayo Owoyemi has advised the Federal Government to ban preaching that threatens Nigeria’s corporate existence.
The clergyman who made the call in Ibadan while speaking with journalists on this year’s annual prayer and fasting programme of the Church tagged ‘The Holy Spirit’ coming up in Ibadan also predicted that the final end has come for Boko Haram activities in Nigeria  .
Reverend Owoyemi pointed out that in doing this, Federal government should not hesitate to review the nation’s policy guiding religious activities in and across the country in the overall interest of the unity and stability of Nigeria.
According to him, the time has come for both the Federal, states and local governments in Nigeria to be more sensitive on religion and to without delay ban any form of preaching capable of threatening the peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
“Government should be observant and vigilant now on religious issues in this country more than it used to be. I think anything contrary to peaceful coexistence among Nigerians should not be allowed, government should this time around act fast,” he said.
Speaking on Boko Haram’s killings of innocent Nigerians, Rev. Owoyemi said “Boko Haram is anti God” and the end has come for their activities, saying, “the termination of their activities is at hand”.
“You don’t fight for God, nobody can be saying you are fighting for God, that is not possible. God fights for himself. Boko Haram is anti God. They claimed they were fighting against western education and at the same time making use of the western education by posting their clips through the internet which is a product of western education. The end has come for them, we are praying over it, the termination of their activities is at hand,” he said.
