The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has declared three days of mourning in and across the institution over the death of six students and two lecturers on Monday in an auto crash along Oyo/Ibadan.
In a statement signed by the Institution’s Public Relation Officer, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole, made available to journalists in Ibadan, the management  also mandated fasting and prayers among the students and staffers of the Institution to seek divine intervention as well as to prevent recurrence of the tragedy.
When our correspondent visited the Polytechnic campus, students and lecturers were seen in mourning mood while the Intra-campus commercial motorists suspended work throughout the day in solidarity with the mourning students and staff.
It will be recalled that six students and non teaching staff of The Polytechnic, Ibadan died on the spot in a lone auto crash along Oyo/Ibadan Expressway on Monday involving a Hummer Bus of the Quantity Surveying Department of the institution conveying some students and staff of the Department to Oyo  at about 6.00 pm at Omotunde Village along Oyo Road.
It was alleged that the auto crash was as a result of the sudden burst of the 18-seater bus tyre, during which it reportedly sumersaulted, thereby killing four of the passengers on the spot while two died later at the Adeoyo State hospital.
