The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appreciated the state-of-the-art airport facilities as seven aircrafts landed at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport for the flagging-off of the PDP Presidential Campaign rally in Damaturu by Atiku Abubakar last Wednesday.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who used the airport for their campaign in the state described the facilities provided by the Buni administration as an exciting pivotal moment.

That six aircrafts, including that of Atiku Abubakar  landed and took off successfully at the airport,  operated by the team of Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) and Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel (ATSEP), means that Yobe State has done a great work.

According to the Head of Technical and Operations of the Muhammadu Buhari  Airport, Engr. Mohammed Hassan,  no fewer than six aircrafts landed at the airport for the PDP presidential campaign rally in Damaturu.

He said that all the members of the PDP including pilots and crew that used the airport, commended the Yobe State Government for the quality of facilities at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, saying the facilities are of international standards.

Engr. Mohammed Hassan said he heard many of the PDP officials and pilots, who were visibly surprised at the Yobe airport, talking to themselves about the facilities, particularly the standard of the runway, control tower and its communication equipment, as well as automated weather observation system, which provides accurate weather report every ten minutes and other ancillary works at the airport.

“This is a testament of the good work His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni has done in ensuring the completion of the Cargo International Airport to standard in line with consolidation and innovation agenda,” he said.

It would be recalled that  President Muhammadu Buhari, who commissioned the Airport during a two-day state visit, commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for providing the International Cargo Airport for the people of North-East zone of Nigeria.

He described the international cargo airport as a strategic project aimed at improving the state and nation’s economy.

Buhari said, “Today, we are commissioning the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport. The international cargo airport connects North-East states, which makes it a critical component of our national economy.”

According to the President, “this international cargo airport has been built to the highest quality of design and workmanship and if properly used, will last for the designed service life.”

He was optimistic  that the airport will support the ease of doing business, create jobs and entrench a prosperous economic environment, in line with his administration’s commitment to eradicate poverty among its people.
